Leather Belts as Fashion Accessory

Belts, as a part of clothing, had been around for quite some time. People generally use it to securely hold a pair of slacks, a pair of jeans or even a pair of shorts. It keeps the pair from falling off especially when the pair is a bit loose. Usually people do not have a pair that has a perfect fit because a person typically gains and loses weight.

Aside from its main purpose, belts also have been used for its aesthetic value. Both men and women use them as a staple accessory in their wardrobe. It evolved to being used as a fashion accessory more than its primary use. Women also use it to accentuate their waist or hips depending on their figure or preference. Using it as a fashion accessory made it even more widely used that it can also be worn with skirts and sometimes even clothing that do not even have belt loops. Using it over dresses and oversized tops also became widely acceptable.

Different materials are used for the manufacturing of belts. Some are made out of leather, synthetic leather, plastic, rubber, canvass, woven textile, indigenous material, beads and metals or any combination of these. Each of these materials have their own advantages and own aesthetic appeal. Majority, however, still rely on using leather belts.

Leather belts are classic pieces that never lose its touch. Leather is pliable and durable and those qualities make it ideal to used for belts. Adding to that, the leather belt has its timeless aesthetic value that livens up any ensemble. Though, the leather material could grow molds and mildew when it has not been used for a long time, it is still the most practical. The maintenance for any leather material is as simple as using them everyday or keeping them in a moisture-free place. There are also oils, balms and conditioner that can be purchased to preserve it.

It can be used minimally but people who prefer more individuality take their time to decide on what kind of buckles to use with their belts. It might have that liberating feeling to be able to personalize and speak one’s own style and attitude by specially designed buckles. It is quite surprising to see the array of inventive belt buckles that is available in the market.

The amusing thing about leather belts is its versatility. Almost every style has their own way of donning one. Rock stars have their studded versions with skulls and bones. Cowboys have their big buckles paired with their boots. Fashion models from the catwalk have their patent leather in varying shapes and sizes. Even for professionals, there is always a way for them to inch leather belts into their basic wardrobe. There was even an incident of belts being a part of a swimsuit. Perhaps the only way that a person would not wear one is if their style requires them to have loose jeans or shorts for whatever reason they have.

I’ve never seen it nor bought it before, but it looks cute. It looks pretty form-fitting though. If you do decide to get it, I’d get the red for #1 color & black as #2 color. I don’t like the other two colors.
